An Editorial Introduction

 

 

      Welcome to the first issue of Psychology Journal. After months of discussion and negotiations, Counseling and Clinical Psychology Journal, has been transformed into the broader, more adaptable Psychology Journal. Although Counseling and Clinical Psychology Journal was a success in its own right, with the increased output and publishing expectations placed on academic researchers, their valuable studies languish unpublished merely due  to a lack of space. Our goal with Psychology Journal is to provide a much needed outlet for those high quality studies.

     The goals of Psychology Journal are ambitious. One goal is to provide a forum for research not only within the subdisciplines of psychology, such as clinical, social, personality, experimental, and physiological, but also related fields that tie into the broad scope of psychology such as, but not limited to, social work, biology, business, and political psychology. Since these are intended to be only quality scholarly efforts, another goal is for each paper to undergo a blind peer-review, providing authors feedback within eight weeks of receipt. Such rapid turnaround is a lofty goal, indeed, and depends upon prompt feedback from reviewers who volunteer their time to maintain the highest quality journal.

     Psychology Journal will consider research conducted through various means and methodologies: quantitative, qualitative, or case studies, as seen in this issue. Brief theoretical papers and literature reviews that have the potential to stimulate future research will also be considered. Additionally, replications, which are rarely published, but are invaluable to the discipline of psychology, will be welcomed.

     I would like to thank the authors who have chosen to submit their work and to be a part of this endeavor as well as the reviewers who have freely given their time.  I hope this brief introduction serves to orient you to this exciting new journal.
